Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

Alhamdulillah, Ramadan is almost upon us and that means the chance to rejuvenate and better ourselves in the eyes of Allah. We ask Allah to allow us to complete Ramadan in the best manner possible, aameen.

We have a lot planned for this Ramadan and this post is to share with the community what that is, as well as other important information.

RAMADAN TIMETABLE

To view or download the KMA Ramadan timetable, please click here.

Please bear in mind that the beginning of Ramadan is reliant on the sighting of the new moon and therefore the timetable could vary by 1 day.

LECTURES

We have lectures (brothers and sisters are both welcome) planned every weekend during Ramadan, delivered by Imam Abdesamad Abdellaoui, Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael and Dr. Sohail Hanif. Additional lectures may take place and if so, these will be announced in advance.

I’TIKAAF

Alhamdulillah, after two years of lockdowns and restrictions, we are now able with the grace of Allah to invite musallees (brothers only) to perform I’tikaaf in the masjid due to the recent lifting of COVID19 restrictions. As previously done, there will be an application process for 11 spots (the maximum available) and musallees will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

To register for I’tikaaf, click here.

SUHUR & IFTAR

The masjid will provide for Iftar as previously done every year. However, the community can contribute to the breaking of the fast by donating. Unfortunately, we can only accept bank transfer or cash donations, not actual food.

To donate Suhur/Iftar for 1 day it costs £350.

If you wish to pay by cash: Hand over to Operations Officer (Badr) at mosque office in a sealed envelope clearly labelled IFTAR22 with the date and your name.

Bank details:
Natwest Bank
Kingston Muslim Association
Account Number: 43276156 / Sort Code: 60-60-02
Make reference as IFTAR22

QIYAM UL-LAYL

As done in previous years, we will be opening our masjid 1-2hrs early before Fajr to perform Qiyam ul-Layl on the last 10 nights in congregation, should anyone wish to. Additionally, for the first time, we will also be opening the masjid early on Fridays and Saturdays for Qiyam ul-Layl throughout the whole of Ramadan in shaa Allah.

These prayers will be led by Qari Othman Barkouch and Imam Abdesamad Abdellaoui.

ZAKAT-UL FITR

This year’s Zakat-ul Fitr is £5 per eligible person. If you wish KMA to manage your Zakat-ul Fitr, please make sure to pay as early as possible, ideally by 21st April. Anything given past that cannot be guaranteed to reach beneficiaries in time.

Zakat-ul Fitr must be paid ONLY IN CASH. Clearly labelled boxes will be available throughout the masjid where you can put in your Zakat-ul Fitr.

EID IN THE PARK & PRAYER TIMES

Unfortunately last year we were unable to perform the Eid prayer in Kingsmeadow due to COVID19 restrictions, however this year we will be organising it there.

More information about Eid prayer times and Eid in the Park will be announced closer to the time in shaa Allah.

On Friday 25th of March, we’ll be inviting Kingston’s MP, Sir Ed Davey and Richmond’s MP, Sarah Olney to the Masjid from 1pm to 2.30pm.

They will be holding private sessions with individuals or groups and give them an opportunity to meet them and discuss matters of concern.
These matters may relate to local issues (such as street crime, litter, housing, etc) or to national policy.
