Assalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu,

The Shawwal new moon has been sighted. Eid ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday 21st April 2023 in’sha allah.

Due to the rain forecast for tomorrow morning, Eid prayers will now be held at Kingston Mosque with jamats taking place at the following times:

  • 06:30am – Sh Mustafidh Gani
  • 07:30am – Imam Abdesamad Abdellaoui
  • 08:30am – Mawlana Muzamel
  • 09:30am – Mufti Anwar
  • 10:30am – Dr Sohail Hanif

The Family Fun Day arrangements at Kingsmeadow will still go ahead. The stalls and funfair rides will be open for everyone to enjoy from 10am onwards.

We encourage everyone to visit Kingsmeadow after their Eid prayers and to make the most of the exclusive Eid festivities.

Eid ul-Fitr this year is expected to fall on either Friday 21st April or Saturday 22nd April. Confirmation of which day Eid will be celebrated will be posted here on Thursday 20th April. 

If Eid falls on Friday, there will be 2 Eid prayer jamats: 

  – 06:30am at Kingston Mosque

  – 10:45am at Kings meadow Stadium

Additionally, if Eid is on Friday 21st April, there will be 2 Jumma prayer jamats:

  • 1:30pm Kingsmeadow stadium
  • 2pm Kingston Mosque

If Eid falls on Saturday, we will hold five Eid jamats all at Kingston Mosque. The time of each jamat is as follows:

  • 06:30am
  • 07:30am
  • 08:30am
  • 09:30am
  • 10:30am

In the event of inclement weather on Friday 21st April, we will switch the Eid prayer schedule to the backup plan of 5 jamats at Kingston Mosque as shown above for the Saturday eventuality. 

Please note 

  • irrespective of which schedule we follow, each jamat will start promptly as listed. Please arrive in plenty of time bearing in mind traffic conditions and parking restrictions. 
  • For Kingsmeadow Stadium, please bring your own prayer mats and folding chair/ stool if needed.

It has been confirmed that fasting will commence tomorrow Thursday, the 23rd of March 2023. Taraweeh prayers will commence tonight (Wednesday, 22nd March).

First fast: Thursday 23rd of March 2023
Start of last ten nights: Night of 11th April
Odd nights: 11 (Tue), 13 (Thur), 15 (Sat), 17 (Mon) and 19 (Wed) of April.

May Allah accept all our worship, fasting, Qur’an recitation and all other acts of worship in this blessed month of Ramadan and forgive us for our shortcomings, aameen.

Dear KMA members,

As you will be aware the KMA elections FOR THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES will be held on Dec 3rd and 4th.

The details and logistics of the process have been extensively communicated via the KMA website and announcements at the Masjid.

We encourage you to read the personal statements of the candidates which are presented on the website before voting.

To further assist you with familiarising yourselves with the candidates, ahead of the election, we are hosting a short ‘meet and greet’ event at the Masjid which will start straight after Zuhr prayer on Sunday Nov 27th and which will conclude before Asr prayer. The event should take around an hour.

Please make every effort to attend this short session.

KINGSTON MUSLIM ASSOCIATION (KMA)


Please find below information for the 2022 Election process for the KMA Board of Trustees and Management Committee.

1. The Election Returning Officers (ERO’s):
The Election will be conducted by the 3 ERO’s:  Saleem Quazi, Anjum Ahmad, Salim Khan

2. Date, Time, Location and Procedure:

  • Vote in person at Kingston Masjid on Dec 3th and Dec 4th from 10.30am to 15 minutes before Asr Jamaat.
  • Only “PAID MEMBERS” of the KMA are eligible to VOTE.
  • Ballot papers will be provided on arrival.
  • Facilities to enable sisters to vote will be provided.
  • Voting by PROXY WILL NOT be accepted.
  • The election will only be for the Board of Trustees. The candidates for the Management Committee have been confirmed in post and no election will be held for those posts. More info here.

Verification against the members list will be conducted by the EROs. Identification for voting will be required (driving licence/utility bill showing name and address).

3. Nominations and Candidates:

ALL CANDIDATES HAVE BEEN ASKED TO SUBMIT A SUMMARY EXPLAINING WHY THEY WISH TO STAND. THEY ARE AVAILABLE HERE.

It is the responsibility of each candidate who applied for nomination to check that their name is included in the nominated candidates page which can be found under the ‘About Us‘ link labelled ‘2022 KMA Elections‘ (www.kingstonmosque.org/2022-kma-elections) and that the personal statement and photograph in the link are correct. If you applied and your name is not included, or if details in the links are not correct, please contact the EROs via the email address (kmaelection2022@outlook.com) immediately.

4. Results:

The Results will be announced late on the evening of Dec 4th or as soon as is practicable after the election closes. A hard copy of the results will be displayed on the Masjid Election notice board and on the KMA website.

5. Questions:

Should any KMA member/candidate have any queries with respect to the Election please email the query to the KMA election email address: kmaelection2022@outlook.com

Queries to be submitted by 10am Friday 25th November at the latest. The decision of the EROs will be final with respect to any queries.

All candidates should familiarize themselves with respect to the impact of the recent CIO proposals. Please refer any questions to the Board of Trustees.

All communications with respect to this election have been and will be via the KMA website, periodic announcements at Jumma and/or via the Masjid noticeboard. No communication is being made by post in order to ensure a cost-effective process.

6. Caveat:

The ERO’s reserve the right to amend the list of candidates standing and/or remove candidates before the election date should circumstances so dictate.

POLITE REMINDER FROM THE EROs TO CANDIDATES: IF YOU ARE ELECTED PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE DOING THE WORK OF ALLAH AND REGULAR AND CONSISTENT ATTENDANCE WILL BE REQUIRED. DO NOT STAND IF YOU WILL BE UNABLE TO KEEP TO THE COMMITMENTS AND REGULAR ATTENDANCE REQUIRED. Once elected to the committee please work with consensus, transparency and the common good – and always seek to work as a team.
