A Farewell and Heartfelt Thanks From Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael

Dear Beloved Community,

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu,

I, am writing to inform you that from the 19th of July, I will no longer be working at the KMA after six beautiful transformative years. From that date, my sermons, counseling, and lessons will come to an end.

Serving this community has been an amazing journey. Every Friday, we explored our faith and strengthened our bonds as brothers and sisters in Islam. Your warmth and dedication have deeply touched my heart and made my time here truly special.

Though I may not be present in person, my heart and prayers will always be with you.

May Allah continue to bless this community with unity, peace, and prosperity. I am confident that KMA will continue to flourish and grow as always.

Jazakum Allahu Khairan for allowing me to guide you. I will cherish these memories forever.
With heartfelt gratitude and warmest salaams,

Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael

The KMA Board of Trustees, on behalf of the Kingston Muslim Community, would like to put on record our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation for the wonderful journey of enlightenment that Shaykh Sulayman Van Ael has taken us on over the past six years.

His dedication and innovative spirit have shone through in the lectures and lessons that have been delivered during the six years. Perhaps lesser known, but highly invaluable, were the one on one counselling sessions held in the Masjid premises. These have been unique and very well received by those who have benefited.

Shaykh Sulayman’s warm and engaging personality and his welcoming smile will be sorely missed.

He has been a genuine people’s Imam and it may be a very long time before we have an Imam arrive on a Harley Davidson to deliver a Friday sermon 🙂

As Shaykh Sulayman embarks on his new chapter in life, we would like to extend our best wishes to him on his future endeavours.

He will always be welcome at the Kingston Muslim Association and we hope our paths cross in the near future, in sha Allah.
